Seaford Library Receives State Grant From Senator Fuschillo

Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District), a member of the Senate’s Education Committee, announced today that he obtained $10,000 in state grant funding for the Seaford Public Library.

"I would like to thank Senator Fuschillo for his continuing concern for the quality of public library service in our local communities," said Library Director Marilyn Griffin.

A portion of the grant funding will allow the Library to purchase an optical media repair unit. This equipment will be used to clean and repair DVDs, music CDs, and books on CD, all popular and growing areas of the library’s collection. Not only will this machine lengthen the service life of the material, it will allow the Library to make the repairs in-house, reducing the amount of service time and getting them back in circulation quicker for the public to enjoy.

The remaining funds will help finance an improvement project to upgrade of the Library’s heating and cooling equipment. By using new, more energy efficient technology, such as energy conserving programmable thermostats, the Library will be able to save money on their energy costs.

"Libraries are a valuable part of our communities because they give residents a place to access a wide variety of information, at little to no cost, right in their own town. Using this grant funding, the Seaford Library will be able to make improvements that will enable it to provide an increased level of service to the people of Seaford, while at the same time operate in a more efficient and cost effective manner," said Senator Fuschillo.
