Senator Fuschillo Welcomes Shore Road Elementary School Band And Orchestra To The State Capitol
Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently welcomed the Shore Road Elementary School band and orchestra to the New York State Capitol, where they were invited to perform as part of the New York State School Music Association’s (NYSSMA) 33rd annual "Music In Our Schools Month" program.
The band and orchestra performed at the South Concourse of the Empire State Plaza. After their concerts, the students met with Senator Fuschillo, who invited them into the Senate Chambers to view a working session of the New York State Senate.
"When school children visit the State Capitol, they get a first hand look at their State government in action. Besides having that experience, the students from Shore Road also had the unique opportunity to perform in the concourse of the Empire State Plaza and entertain the legislators, their staffs, and Capitol visitors," said Senator Fuschillo. "These kids and their teachers should be very proud of the job they did, and I hope that they enjoyed this once in a lifetime experience."
