Senator Alesi Announces Improved Traffic Device In Perinton

Senator Jim Alesi (R/C-Perinton) today announced the addition of flashing lights to existing traffic signs at the busy intersection at Route 250 and St. Andrews Boulevard in the Town of Perinton. The legislators, working in conjunction with the state Department of Transportation (DOT) and community members, were able to achieve a reasonable solution to area of concern.

"I am pleased that the state Department of Transportation has agreed to reexamine and review their previous studies conducted for this busy intersection," said Senator Jim Alesi. "After a spirited public debate and through productive conversations with the state DOT, I am confident that the decision to include blinking lights to the current signs will ensure greater awareness and improve the safety of the intersection."

After public hearings and meetings with state and local officials, including various neighborhood organizations and the Monroe County Sheriff's Office, Senator Alesi and Assemblyman Koon, through correspondence with Charles Moynihan, Regional Director of the state DOT, suggested the inclusion of warning lights affixed to the current signs. The New York State Department of Transportation traffic engineers will arrange for the electrical service and flashing light installation during the upcoming construction season.
