Senator Dale M. Volker Secures State Funds For Wyoming County Probation Department
Senator Dale M. Volker (R-C-I, Depew) today announced that he has secured $4,329 for the purchase of six bullet proof vests and additional safety equipment for the Wyoming County Probation Department. Senator Volker secured these state funds as part of the adopted 2005-2006 State Budget.
"Probation Officers are on the front lines in making sure that those previously incarcerated in county and local correctional facilities, who are now residing in the community are obeying our laws, staying out of trouble and leading productive lives," said Senator Volker. "Often times, the safety of our Probation Officers are at risk, and the need to have the proper equipment is essential in order for them to perform their difficult jobs well. I am pleased to have secured these state funds to better protect our Probation Officers from the inherent danger of their duties."

Berwanger, Chairman of the Wyoming County Board of Supervisors said, "Senator Volker has been involved in law enforcement for many years and he understands that our Probation Officers need up-to-date protective equipment to ensure their safety and the community as a whole. Wyoming County continues to support our county and local law enforcement agencies and this announcement further complements those financial and programmatic resources to assist them in protecting our families and our communities."

Herod, Director of Probation for Wyoming County said, "Our professional and dedication Probation Officers are some of the finest throughout the state and I am pleased that these state funds have been secured by Senator Volker for the purchase of body armor and other protective devices to assist in their safety. Unfortunately, being a Probation Officer can be dangerous business. However, we continue to provide the best training possible and the tools to provide them and our residents the safety they deserve."
State funds that Senator Volker secured will provide the Wyoming County Probation Department with the following safety equipment:
Six Bulletproof Vests
Six Tactical Carriers
One Wand for scanning the body for dangerous instruments and/or materials
Two Portable Radios
Two Hand-held Mikes
