Senator Golden Honors A Fine Young Man

On Sunday, March 26, 2006 State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-22^nd SD) presented a Legislative Resolution to Moshe Yedid at the 27^th Annual Community Legislative Breakfast of the Council of Jewish Organizations of Flatbush. The Senator introduced the resolution on the floor of the Senate and it was adopted unanimously on February 7, 2006 as Senate Resolution No. 3383.

The resolution recognizes Moshe, who is a sixth grader at Yeshiva Ateret Torah, for raising more than $5,000 to benefit Hatzolah of Flatbush, a volunteer ambulance service, in memory of his father Ike, who passed away recently after a long illness. Senator Golden first met Moshe at a Town hall meeting in Hatzolah’s garage last November, when he presented a plaque to Moshe in recognition of his efforts. Moshe had begun collecting money for Hatzolah while sitting shiva for his father. Hatzolah Flatbush volunteers had shown his father and family great kindness during his father’s illness, and Moshe wanted to show his appreciation. When the Senator heard Moshe’s story, he was visibly moved and invited him to Albany to introduce him to the State Senate. Moshe and his proud family looked on as Senator Golden praised Moshe and requested that this resolution be passed. The answer was a standing ovation and a resounding yes.

Senator Golden, in making the presentation at COJO of Flatbush’s Breakfast, recognized the outstanding job COJO does in meeting the human service needs of the Flatbush community. The Senator commented that since the Yedid family resides in Flatbush, he could not think of a more appropriate venue to make this presentation.
