Senator Golden Offers $1000 Reward To Help Find Brooklyn Flag Burners

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Marine Park) today is offering a $1000 reward for anyone who has information that will lead to the arrest of the vandals who burned American flags on eight homes in the Marine Park section of Brooklyn.

Senator Marty Golden stated, "As we approach the celebration of our Nation’s independence this July 4th, some vandal has defied our freedoms, our rights and our liberties by setting fire to the American Flag. I encourage anyone with information, anyone who may have witnessed this rash of flag burning, to contact my office and the Police Department, so that we can bring about justice. Flag burning is something we will not tolerate in our neighborhood."

Golden continued, "I encourage all residents of Marine Park and throughout Brooklyn to fly "Old Glory" high and to fly the stars and strips proud. The American flag is the greatest symbol of freedom ever known to mankind. As our sons and daughters are fighting to protect our nation, which will allow us to live in freedom under the American Flag, we will not let it burn here in Brooklyn."

Three flags were burned on the 1700 Block of East 38th Street. Two more on the 1800 Block of East 36th Street and two others on Avenue R.
