Charles J. Fuschillo Jr.

State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently presented the New York State Conspicuous Service Cross with one silver device to Melvin Brenner, a World War II veteran from North Massapequa.

Mr. Brenner served in the United States Army, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. In addition to the Conspicuous Service Cross, Mr. Brenner also earned the Bronze Star Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, the American Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal.

The Conspicuous Service Cross is offered by New York State to acknowledge recipients of various military honors, including the Meritorious Service Medal, or those who were prisoners of war, at Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941, directly participated in the D-day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944, or have been declared MIA or killed in Action by the Department of Defense.

"Mr. Brenner served our nation honroably and bravely in the fight against tyranny and oppression in the Second World War. Like all veterans, he is deserving of our respect and appreciation. It is my pleasure to honor this local hero," said Senator Fuschillo.

Senator Fuschillo is continually accepting applications for New York State military awards. Residents who would like information about applying for these medals can call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-546-4100 or email him using the link below.
