Senator Fuschillo Congratulates Chatterton Student For Second Place Finish In Statewide Environmental Contest
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently welcomed Andrew Boyd of Merrick to the state capitol in Albany where he was honored for his award winning entry in the I*ma*GREEN* nation contest, an annual, statewide environmental awareness contest organized by the New York State Senate.
Andrew, a fifth grade student in Ms. Angela Kremberg’s class at Chatterton Elementary School, took second place in the Literature category for the 4th and 5th grade division. Andrew was honored for his work during a special awards ceremony at the State Capitol in Albany. Andrew’s project was also displayed in the Legislative Office Building, where it was viewed by legislators, staff members, and capitol visitors.
The 17th annual I*ma*GREEN*nation contest encouraged school age children, grades one through eight, to use their imagination to develop ideas to improve recycling and protect our natural resources. This helped educate students about the importance recycling and waste reduction and taught them about the role they can play in protecting our environment.
