Senator Fuschillo Reads To Kindergarten Class As Part Of Birch Elementary School’s Reading Day
State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (8th Senate District) recently served as a guest reader at Birch Elementary School in Merrick as part of the school’s annual “Community Read-In Day”.
Senator Fuschillo read House Mouse, Senate Mouse by Peter and Cheryl Barnes to Ms. Loretta Vernet’s kindergarten class. The story allows children to learn in a fun way about how government works, how ideas are turned into new laws, and what Senator Fuschillo’s job is as a New York State Senator.
"Encouraging children to read and getting them excited about learning at an early age will benefit them throughout their lives. Having community leaders read to students and demonstrate that reading can be fun is a great way to reinforce that message," said Senator Fuschillo. "I really enjoyed reading to the class and watching how much fun they had listening to the story."
