Golden: Recruitment Drive For Correction Officer’s Announced
Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C, Brooklyn), today is announcing that the New York State Department of Correctional Services has launched their latest Department’s Correction Officer recruitment effort. An examination will be held on October 27, 2007 and the filing deadline for this examination is September 10, 2007.
A correction officer trainee’s starting salary is currently $34,329 per year. After the successful completion of the one-year correction officer traineeship, the salary increases to $41,348 per year. Candidates must be 21 years of age on or before the date of their appointment.
Senator Golden stated, "As an individual who served in law enforcement, I encourage local residents that are looking for a rewarding career to consider becoming a correction officer here in New York State. In becoming a correction officer, you are serving the State in a very important role, in that you are responsible for the custody and security, as well as safety and well-being, of criminal offenders in State Correctional Facilities. You also play a large role in the rehabilitative process related to the incarcerated population."
