Senator Steve Saland Announces Funding For Hudson Waterfront
The City of Hudson owns a small dock which is leased to the Spirit of Hudson River Cruise Liner, which has benefitted the City. That business, however, may move to a community with larger dock space. The City will use this grant to enlarge the dock to create space for both the Cruise Liner and other vessels wishing to moor there. Additionally, the City plans to build a concession stand to offer refreshments to visitors to the waterfront park, creating an additional revenue stream.
“Municipalities located on the Hudson River have realized that creating an inviting waterfront is not only an economic stimulus which generates revenues, but provides a place for the public to connect with the river creating community vitality,” said Senator Saland. I’m glad I was able to help the City with this very worthwhile project by securing this grant.”
“As Mayor of the City of Hudson, I want to express my deep appreciation to Senator Saland for securing this grant. While we enjoy an exciting waterfront, it’s clear that our docking facilities are inadequate. These much needed monies will assure us of economic and recreational opportunities we otherwise wouldn’t have,” said Rick Scalera, Mayor of Hudson.
