Senator Steve Saland Announces State Grant For The Roeliff Jansen Library
The proposed library will be the first public LEED certified green building in Columbia County. LEED is the nationally accepted benchmark for the design of green buildings. The public will be kept informed during each step of the building process in order to educate the community on green technology.
Senator Saland commented, “The new Roeliff Jansen Community Library will not only be an outstanding community partner, extending the love of reading and learning to children and adults alike, but it will be a fine example of how a community came together to create a public facility that works in harmony with nature. I applaud all those who have worked tirelessly to bring the dream to reality and I’m glad I was able to help by securing this grant.”
"This new facility is going to have profound impact on our community and the strength of our civic infrastructure. Senator Saland, who has been a consistent supporter of libraries throughout his career, is a model for government supporting effective community infrastructure." "We are hugely grateful for Senator Saland’s support of this important community project." said Ned Schneier, President, Roeliff Jansen Community Library.
