Kaminsky hosts roundtable on cyberbullying on Thursday

A virtual roundtable discussion on cyberbullying will be hosted by State Sen. Todd Kaminsky, a Democrat who covers the Five Towns on Thursday, Feb. 11 at 5 p.m. The focus is the causes and effects of cyberbullying and what methods could be put in place to combat the problem. Cyberbullying is a form of bullying or harassment using digital devices.

A 2020 study by the Cyberbullying Research Center found that 20 percent of children ages nine to 12 had either seen, took part in or was a victim of cyberbullying. Kaminsky said he is committed to sponsoring legislation to minimize the impact of cyberbullying.

“Cyberbullying is a serious threat to our children in today’s world, and I am committed to doing all I can to stamp out this menace to our youth and their well-being,” Kaminsky stated in a news release. “We will convene an expert panel of educators, students, law enforcement officials, and other stakeholders to discuss this serious issue in our schools — and how we can put an end to it.”
