Massive restoration project restores St. George Theatre to its ‘original glory’: Here’s a peek inside

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The historic St. George Theatre celebrated the completion of its massive restoration project over the last five months with an official ribbon-cutting ceremony in its majestic lobby Monday morning.

Close to 100 guests, including the elected officials who funded the project, members of the St. George Theatre board of directors, staff, and the contractors who oversaw the restorations, enjoyed a tour of the glistening interior restoration project, and remarks by local and state officials. The centerpiece of the tour was the sparkling chandelier, restored to its original glory.

Attendees included State Sen. Jessica Scarcella-Spanton; Assemblymembers Mike Reilly and Sam Pirozzolo; NYC Councilmembers David Carr and Joe Borelli; Kai Vogel and Patrick Donavan from U.S. Sentor Schumer’s Office; Bill Matarazzo from State Senator Lanza’s Office;Richmond County Public Administrator Edwina Martin; Advisor to the BP, Ed Burke; Tommy Scarangello from Governor Kathy Hochul’s Office; and James Clinton, representative from DA Michael McMahon’s office.
