State Senator James Skoufis (D,, Cornwall) received several spirited questions on topics such as public safety, local infrastructure, and the environment during his annual “Skoufis on Your Street” tour.

Skoufis was even challenged to a game of table tennis during one of the town hall-style events at the Port Jervis Recreation Center. The tour recently was completed with four stops over two weeks, welcoming constituents with diverse backgrounds, priorities, and concerns to learn about Skoufis’ legislative work and relay the needs of their communities.

In addition to Port Jervis, town halls were also held in Middletown, Warwick, and Cornwall-on-Hudson.

“As your State Senator, it’s my duty to ensure local voices are represented in Albany, and it’s also my pleasure,” Senator Skoufis said. “It’s too easy for some lawmakers to lose sight of the issues that impact the day-to-day lives of people in the communities they represent. I’m enormously grateful to my constituents for the time they took out of their undoubtedly busy lives to hear about our work and to keep me abreast of the issues affecting their lives and the lives of their neighbors.”

In addition to spirited question and answer periods, Senator Skoufis had the opportunity for many one-on-one discussions with constituents about everything from congestion pricing to the invasive gypsy moth. Members of his team were also on hand to address unique constituent concerns.

Senator Skoufis closed out the 2024 legislative session in June with 88 of his sponsored bills passing the Senate, the highest of any lawmaker in the state. His town halls also offered a chance for constituents to learn about his legislative portfolio.
