Larkin Encourages Students To Enter College Scholarship Essay Competition

As a member of the New York State American-Irish Legislators’ Society, Senator Bill Larkin informs residents that this organization has announced its 7th Annual College Scholarship Essay Competition for High School Juniors and Seniors.

Two awards will be made based on the submission of a 1,000 word essay. This year’s topic: "The Rise of the Celtic Tiger – Ireland’s entry into the technological era."

1st Place Award - $1,500

2nd Place Award - $750

The Competition is open to New York State High School Juniors and Seniors expecting to graduate by June, 2006 or 2007. The scholarship must be used at an accredited college in New York State.

Entries must include: The essay, a letter of nomination from a teacher or guidance counselor; and the official cover form which can be downloaded from: www.emsc.nysed.gov/nysssa/AmIrLeg/flyer.htm.

Submit all entries to: Scholarship Review Committee, American-Irish Legislators Society, Legislative Office Building - Room 648, Empire State Plaza, Albany, NY 12248.
