State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon), Chairman of the Finance Committee, is shown displaying a t-shirt that sports the Copiague School District’s designation as one of the 100 best communities for music education in the Nation. The prestigious designation is the result of a survey sponsored by the NAMM Foundation, its American Music Conference (AMC) division and a partnership of leading national associations working to promote the benefits of active participation in music and music education.
"Music education has been linked to success in other academic areas and in life," said Senator Johnson. "I am just delighted that Copiague has been chosen as one of the 100 best communities for music education. It’s something of which the school district -- and everyone who is involved with the music program here at Copiague -- should be very proud."
Senator Johnson presented Superintendent William Bolton and the School District with a New York State Legislative Resolution honoring the district on securing this designation at a recent legislative breakfast at the Walter O’Connell High School. The resolution was also sponsored by Senator Fuschillo.
