State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon) and State Senator Caesar Trunzo (3rd Senate District) commended the Academy of St. Joseph in Brentwood on reaching their 150th birthday. The private Roman Catholic Academy operates a co-ed elementary and middle school as well as the only all-girls high school in Suffolk County. Their student body is gathered from communities throughout Suffolk County as close as Brentwood and as far away as Hampton Bays.

To mark the momentous occasion, the Senators presented the School with a New York State Senate Resolution at their Annual Family Picnic Celebration that was held early this past summer. The resolution states that the 150th Anniversary of the Academy stands as a resolute testimony to the School’s standards of excellence, its uncompromising values, unparalleled dedication and the special teamwork of its family of students, Sisters, parents, teachers and administrators who share common goals and uncommon expectations. The Academy first opened its doors on September 8, 1856 and is now entering its 151st year.
