Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) today announced state funding to create additional affordable housing in Ulster County.

The financing was approved by the board of the New York State Housing Finance Agency (HFA).

"As we continue our efforts to hold the line on property taxes for homeowners, we are also addressing the need for more affordable housing for seniors and other lower income families who rent their homes and apartments," said Senator Larkin. "Programs such as this will help more people to live and work in New York and help keep our extended families nearby."

HFA approved $11.8 million in financing to build The Birches, an 81-unit senior independent living apartment complex in Esopus.
