The State Senate has passed an array of measures this week sponsored by Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) designed to assist the state’s farmers, horse racing industry, local taxpayers and veterans.
Senate bill 1046 allows farmers to file a late application for a real property tax exemption if they suffer a catastrophic event such as a flood that damages their property or the destruction of their home by wind, fire or flood.
Senate bill 2019 expands the number of retail sales outlets that micro-distilleries can use to market and sell their products.
Senate bill 577-A authorizes racetracks, simulcast race tracks and off-track betting corporations to offer rebates on pari-mutuel wagers made by certain bettors.
Senate bill 4497 recognizes that the assessed value of the Danskammer and Roseton power plants impacts the state education aid payments to the Marlboro Central School District. This legislation reconfigures the school aid to the district so that it will be held harmless when the properties are reassessed.
Senate bill 231 waives the initial Department of Motor Vehicles fee for those veterans who are age 62 or older and who have received a Purple Heart Medal and wish to obtain a Purple Heart license plate.
All bills were sent to the Assembly.
