Senator Kenneth P. LaValle has lined up a variety of initiatives he would like to have acted on before the end of this legislative session. Senator LaValle is working on measures that impact communities in the First Senate District, as well as legislation that would affect all Long Island residents.
The Senator is working on bills that would ensure the flow of state funding for certain contracts in the Rocky Point and Greenport school districts; improve safety in the villages of Southampton and Westhampton Beach; update the elections law in the Mattituck Park District; and allow people to enjoy recreational fishing. Senator LaValle is also working to provide Public Service Commission oversight of certain LIPA rate changes, the reinstatement of the STAR rebate check, a limit on state taxes, spending, and mandates, and increased accountability at the state and local levels.
“The last month in Albany has been trying, but I have not stopped working to ensure that bills I have put forward will be addressed before the end of this session,” said Senator LaValle. “I have great respect for the legislative process and am committed to representing the best interests of the people I serve. In the closing days of session, I hope to pass bills that will serve to improve and enhance our local quality of life.”
