Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) was pleased to receive a letter from the United States Postal Service (USPS) confirming their intent to reissue the Purple Heart stamp as postal rates change.
Senator Larkin had originally contacted the Postal Service requesting that the Purple Heart stamp be issued as a "forever stamp" to avoid the difficulties that arise when postal rates are increased. While the reply he received back from USPS does not commit to the "forever stamp" it does express their intent to reissue the stamp should rates increase.
"I am very happy the United States Postal Service has seen fit to commit in writing their intent to reissue the Purple Heart stamp in the future" said Larkin. "This stamp is incredibly important to our veterans and their families and this commitment means a great deal to them. I applaud the Postal Service for their support with this stamp and would continue to encourage them to consider it for "forever stamp" status" said Larkin.
