Carl L Marcellino
March 11, 2010
Senator Carl L. Marcellino today announced that he will be hosting a reception to thank those who committed their time and energy to serve those affected by the earthquake in Haiti.
“In the wake of the devastation caused by the earthquake in Haiti numerous residents traveled to aid the victims. Volunteers left their families and their homes to reach out to help their neighbors in need. Once there these dedicated Long Islanders assisted in humanitarian relief for the earthquake victims of that devastated country. Individually and collectively, these volunteers have done something to make this a better place for someone else and by doing that, have made it a better place for us all," said Senator Marcellino.
Senator Marcellino would like to appropriately honor these extraordinary individuals by presenting them with the "New York State Senate Liberty Award." This distinction is bestowed upon people who have merited special commendation for exceptional heroic or humanitarian acts and achievements.
If you know of a volunteer from the Fifth Senate District who went to Haiti or performed an exceptional volunteer service for the victims and is worthy of this honor please fill out the attached application and return it to Senator Marcellino.
The Fifth Senate District includes the Northern portions of the Towns of Oyster Bay and Huntington and the City of Glen Cove.
