“The State’s Power for Jobs program, which provides low-cost energy to businesses throughout the state, is at risk of expiring this weekend because the Assembly has refused to either extend the program or make it permanent.
Thousands of Long Islanders are employed by local companies who participate in the Power for Jobs program. Failing to extend this program puts these jobs in jeopardy. At a time of high unemployment and with so many people looking for jobs, refusing to act on a program which promotes job creation is just wrong.
The Assembly should join the Senate in immediately approving legislation to protect the Power for Jobs program and the many local companies which depend on it.”
