Residents Invited to Sign Online Petition Calling on Obama Administration to Abandon New York City Terror Trial Plans

New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today launched a new online petition where residents can join him in urging the Obama Administration not to hold the 9/11 terror trials in New York City.

"Putting these terrorists on trial in the middle of New York City, just blocks from where they inflicted one of the worst tragedies in our country's history, puts people in danger. It would also impose a tremendous economic burden on New York City, disrupt city residents and commuters, and cost hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars. The Obama Administration needs to immediately abandon its plans and prosecute these terrorists on a secure military base away from the general public," said Senator Fuschillo.

In addition, Senator Fuschillo will be sponsoring a legislative resolution in the Senate calling on President Obama to move the terror trials out of New York City.

Recently, Mayor Michael Bloomberg estimated that the terror trial, which is expected to take several years to complete, would cost the City of New York nearly $1 billion. Mayor Bloomberg opposes the Obama Administration's plan, as does Congressman Peter King (R-Seaford) who is actively fighting to keep the trials out of New York City.
