Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited William Rall Elementary School in Lindenhurst to speak with the student council about his “Extend the Holidays” toy drive. The student council will once again be participating in the program by leading a collection drive at the school to gather toys for the program.

“Extend the Holidays” is an annual toy drive Senator Fuschillo organizes for the benefit of children in Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Ward. Toys are delivered after the holiday season, so that children can experience the joys of receiving a holiday gift throughout the year.

Senator Fuschillo spoke with the students about why he organizes the “Extend the Holidays” toy drive each year and how Winthrop Hospital uses the toys to help cheer up their child patients. Over 1,500 toys were collected as part of last year’s “Extend the Holidays” toy drive.

“It was wonderful to see the students get so excited about participating in the program and being able to help children in the hospital.  I’m very thankful that they are once again helping to make this program a success.  I’m sure they are going to work very hard and will do a great job,” said Senator Fuschillo.
