Senator Martins Congratulates Eagle Scout Antonio Pereira

Senator Jack M. Martins honored Elmont Eagle Scout Antonio Pereira during an Eagle Court of Honor at the American Legion. Senator Martins was joined by Valley Stream Mayor Ed Fare, Elmont VFW member Richard Gales, Justice Robert Bogle, Assistant Commissioner of the Theodore Roosevelt Boy Scouts Donna Jean Serra of Elmont, Assemblyman Ra, Robert Becker of Boy Scouts, Cheryl Tansey, Committee Chair of Crew 116 and Boy Scouts from throughout the Elmont, North Valley Stream and South Floral Park communities.

“Today is a special day for Antonio and the entire Elmont community,” said Senator Martins. "Antonio's parents are very proud of him and so am I. It’s a privilege and honor to share this special day and take part in one of the most important ceremonies a Boy Scout can ever go through. We are very proud of you, Antonio."

The Eagle Scout is the highest award that the Boy Scouts of America can bestow. Antonio began scouting in 2000 in Pack 316 and joined Troop 333 where he began his work to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Antonio earned 39 merit badges, World conservation badge, the BSA Leave No Trace award and the Light of Christ Ad Altare Dei, Parvuli Dei and Pope Pius XII religious awards and Order of the Aarow.

Antonio’s crowning achievement was his Eagle Scout project. With much hard work and dedication, he completed the new construction of an interpretive kiosk and total rehabilitation of two other kiosks at Tackapausha Museum and Preserve in Massapequa.

During the ceremony, Senator Martins presented Antonio with a resolution that was passed on the floor of the New York State Senate. During the presentation, Senator Martins said, “Antonio you are a leader that Elmont will look to in the years to come and everyone in this room is very proud of you and your achievement.”
