Senator Golden Names Community Activist Elaine Delaney 2011 “Woman of Distinction”

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, 22nd District) recently honored Public School 186 Parent Coordinator and community activist, Elaine Delaney for her outstanding work on behalf of our neighborhood and many causes, with special recognition from the State Senate as a 2011 New York “Woman of Distinction.” Senator Golden presented the award to her at a special event held in Albany earlier this week.
“No matter where you look, you see Elaine Delaney, always working towards one goal which is to allow for our neighborhood to be the very best that it can be. Elaine is a remarkable women in our midst whose life, work and accomplishments have made our corner of the world a better place to live, work and raise a family. The Senate’s Women of Distinction program provides a special opportunity to honor women from across of New York State for their achievements and I am so proud to have chosen to recognize Elaine this year.”
Elaine was born in Brooklyn, is a graduate of Bishop Kearney High School and the College of Staten Island, where she earned an Associates Degree in Applied Science. She worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Company, NBC News, and New York Methodist Hospital. She is presently the Parent Coordinator at Public School 186.
Elaine Delaney has volunteered with the Federation of Italian American Organizations, the Neighborhood Improvement Association, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the Leukemia Foundation, the Reaching Out Community Services food pantry, the Brooklyn Public Library, as a CCD teacher at St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church and as a St. Jude Math-a-thon coordinator.
Elaine Delaney has been involved with the Boy Scouts of America for many years and is currently the Cubmaster of Pack 20 and the Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 20. Elaine is the mother of three sons, Matthew, Patrick and the late Brian.
