Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is announcing his plans to host free mammography screenings in conjunction with area health care providers, during the month of October as part of outreach efforts to support “Breast Cancer Awareness Month”, at both of his district offices.
Free mammograms sponsored by the Multi Diagnostic Services will be available to women over 40 at Senator Golden’s District Office, located at 7408-5th Avenue on Tuesday, October 18, 2011, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. An appointment must be made by calling 718-454-8556.
The Scan Van Project of Project Renewal, will also provide free mammograms on Friday, November 18, 2011, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in front of his office located at 3604 Quentin Road. An appointment must be made by calling 1-800-564-6868.
Women interested in appointments must be over 40 years of age and have not had a mammogram in the past year. Results will be sent to the individual and/or their doctor within 10 business days.
Senator Marty Golden stated, "I am proud to partner with Multi Diagnostic Services and Project Renewal to make available free mammography screenings for women forty years and older. October is “Breast Cancer Awareness Month” and so I am proud to bring public awareness to the importance of getting tested. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and I encourage all those who have not had a mammogram in more than a year to make an appointment and to get screened.”
As part of Senator Golden's focus on public health, earlier this week he announced plans to offer free flu shots to the community. For more information on any of these upcoming events, please contact his office at (718) 238-6044 or visit his website at www.golden.nysenate.gov.
