Statement from Senator Lee M. Zeldin: Anniversary of September 11th
Lee M. Zeldin
September 11, 2012
“On this Anniversary of September 11th, 2001, our thoughts and prayers go out to all those who lost their lives on that fateful day. Not only was 9/11 a day where the worst of human nature maliciously terrorized our great nation, it was also one where the best of our humanity shined through. Americans do not cower in the face of evil and adversity. That is exactly what we saw on September 11, 2001, when the heroes of the FDNY and NYPD selflessly stormed the burning towers in an effort to save the lives of their fellow New Yorkers, many of them sacrificing their own in the process. Today is a day to honor these heroes and make sure that their actions live on and are never forgotten. Let us also remember the brave men and women of our Armed Forces who answered the call to defend this great nation in our battle against terrorism and whose courage and sacrifice preserve our liberties. We will never forget.”
