Orleans County school districts benefit from Bullet Aid

Senator George D. Maziarz is pleased to announce that he has secured “bullet aid” earmarks in the 2013-2014 state budget for school districts in Orleans County.  Each of the five school districts—Albion, Holley, Kendall, Lyndonville, and Medina—will receive $67,800 in bullet aid, which is above and beyond the regular state aid these districts are slated to receive.

Today’s announcement was made at the offices of the Albion Central School District, hosted by Albion Superintendent Mike Bonnewell.

“These additional resources will help our schools go the extra mile to meets the needs of their students,” Senator Maziarz said.  “District leaders will have the discretion to use this money as they see fit.”

Holley Superintendent Robert C. D’Angelo said, “On behalf of the entire Holley CSD community, I am very pleased that Senator Maziarz was, once again, able to secure Bullet Aid for our district.  Throughout his career, the Senator has placed the needs of school districts and the students on a high priority and this Bullet Aid is just one more example of his commitment to education.  We are very grateful and will apply the funds toward our educational program.”

“On behalf of the Lyndonville Central School District, we thank Senator Maziarz for his continued advocacy for our district,” said Lyndonville Superintendent Jason A. Smith.  “The additional grant funding will primarily be targeted at providing resources and support for full implementation of the Common Core Standards of Learning, including professional development for our teachers.”

Kendall Superintendent Julie Christensen said, “Thank you Senator Maziarz, for your continued support of rural schools.”  She added that the funds would be used for security enhancements and wireless access points.

“The Medina Central School District is very pleased that Senator Maziarz has once again secured funding for our school district,” said Jeff Evoy, Superintendent of the Medina Central School District.  “We will use the $67,800 grant to assist in funding a School Resource Officer and make additional safety improvements on our school campus.  We appreciate the support Senator Maziarz gives our school district and thank him for helping us make the safety of our students and staff our number one priority.”
