Retailer Target has announced that data connected to about 40 million credit and debit card accounts was stolen as part of a breach that began over the Thanksgiving weekend. According to Target, if you used your credit or debit card in any of their stores, it is potential that your information was accessed.
If you see suspicious charges on your credit statement, report them to your credit card companies and call Target at 866-852-8680.
While the data breach did not affect online purchases, anyone who shopped at Target should pay close attention and any action that their bank advises to avoid credit card fraud and identity theft.
