Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) is announcing his plans to host mammography screenings in conjunction with the American Italian Cancer Foundation in November in Marine Park.
The 37 foot mobile mammography van, staffed completely by women, will be outside of Senator Golden’s District Office on Friday, November 22, 2013, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at 3604 Quentin Road.
The mammography screenings take about thirty minutes to complete. An appointment, which is necessary, can be made by calling 718-238-6044
Senator Marty Golden stated, "I again am proud to partner and welcome the American-Italian Cancer Foundation to the community to make available free mammography screenings for women forty years and older. Early detection of breast cancer saves lives, and I encourage all those who have not had a mammogram in more than a year to make an appointment and to get screened."
The objective of the American-Italian Cancer Foundation's (AICF) Free Mobile Mammography Program is to break down the barriers to breast cancer screening that result in many under served women losing their lives to breast cancer due to advanced disease at diagnosis. Women interested in appointments must be over 40 years of age and have not had a mammogram in the past year. Results will be sent to you and/or your doctor within 10 business days. Uninsured women will be covered by the AICF's funding.
