More than 300 people packed the Fulton War Memorial Wednesday to take part in State Senator Patty Ritchie’s Oswego County Senior Health and Wellness Fair.
Seniors in attendance had the opportunity access free tips and tools for living a healthy and active lifestyle from more than 50 local organizations in attendance. A free lunch, made possible by Pathfinder Bank, Hudsons' Dairy, Ontario Orchards, Behling Orchards, Dunkin’ Donuts and prepared by BOCES students was also provided. Transportation was sponsored by Entergy.
“I’m thrilled that so many seniors were able to attend Wednesday’s event, which featured everything from free flu shots to giveaways,” said Senator Ritchie. “This event is truly a one stop shop for any senior who is looking to access more information about improving their well-being.”
During the event, Senator Ritchie also honored Louise Kellogg of Hannibal with her Oswego County “Senior of the Year” Award. A volunteer since 1985, Louise has logged more than 4,000 volunteer hours. She volunteers regularly at Meadowbrook Manor, the Hannibal Senior Nutrition site, the Hannibal American Legion as well as a number of other organizations.
In addition to her Jefferson and Oswego County events, Senator Ritchie will also host a Senior Health and Wellness Fair in St. Lawrence County on October 23rd from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Ogdensburg Oddfellows.
