B&H Photo Video Union Election Successful!
November 9, 2015
On October 11, 2015, B&H Photo Video workers at two warehouse sites in Bushwick and the Brooklyn Navy Yard launched an organizing drive to join United Steelworkers. In little time, a strong majority of workers had indicated their support for a union. Facing intimidation and threats of mass firings, I authored a letter with my colleagues in Hell's Kitchen (where the B&H Photo Video storefront is located), Bushwick, and the Brooklyn Navy Yard calling on B&H to voluntarily recognize the union and refrain from anti-union tactics. Last week, B&H workers officially voted 200-88 to become a part of United Steelworkers District 4. We hope this letter will play a positive role in the bargaining process going forward and I will remain vigilant to see that this process is conducted in a fair and open manner.
