(New York, NY)- Senator Serrano applauded Mayor Bill de Blasio and Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito on the success of the IDNYC program, with over 400,000 New Yorkers, or 5.5% of eligible City residents, already having an IDNYC card. IDNYC launched six months ago and is now the largest municipal ID program in the country.
"I applaud Mayor Bill de Blasio and Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito for the tremendous success of the revolutionary IDNYC program. IDNYC has allowed 400,000 New Yorkers, regardless of immigration status, greater functionality in obtaining essential services. Over the years I have fought for the protection of our immigrant community - including advocating for a municipal ID for immigrants in New York City. I am proud to see the municipal ID become such a success and that New York City continues to lead the way and providing a successful blueprint for the rest of the country to follow," said Senator Serrano.
Senator Serrano is a staunch supporter of IDNYC and has sponsored IDNYC Information Sessions during his Constituent Services Hours throughout the 29th Senate District.
