STATEMENT BY SENATOR MARTY GOLDEN ON R TRAIN SERVICE
December 11, 2015
Brooklyn – State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn), a member of the Metropolitan Transit Authority Capital Review Board, today has issued the following statement regarding train service on the R line that serves the Bay Ridge area of his district:
“The R train continues to be a constant source of frustration for countless Bay Ridge commuters. Whether its disabled trains, signal problems, or disruptions of service, straphangers are tired of being late to their destinations. I have heard numerous complaints and have had repeated conversations with transportation officials regarding improving R Train service and those discussions continue.
Solutions to ameliorate R Line problems include new trains, renovated stations, add more trains and an express option. It is time for the MTA to take immediate steps to ensure that Bay Ridge commuters have reliable, safe and expeditious train service to and from work. We deserve nothing less.”
