Amherst, NY – State Senator Mike Ranzenhofer has announced today that residents can properly dispose of any expired or unwanted medications at a prescription drug drop-off program on Saturday, April 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, 1540 Maple Road in Williamsville.
“Properly disposing of expired or unwanted medications prevents pollution of our waterways, helping to protect our environment,” said Ranzenhofer. “It also prevents accidental poisoning and keeps them out of the wrong hands. I encourage residents to take advantage of this important program.”
Residents can drop off any type of medication, including over-the-counter medicine, syringes, inhalers, liquids, ointments and patches. Radioactive products or items containing mercury cannot be accepted.
The event is sponsored by Senator Ranzenhofer, in conjunction with the Amherst Police Department, the Erie County Department of Environment & Planning, Covanta Energy, Tops Pharmacies and Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
