Senator Gallivan Re-Appointed Chair of Committee on Crime Victims, Crime & Corrections

Senator Patrick M. Gallivan (R-C-I, Elma) has been re-appointed to serve as Chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Crime Victims, Crime and Corrections. The former New York State Trooper and Sheriff of Erie County has chaired the committee since 2013.
“It is an honor to once again serve as Chairman of this committee and to provide guidance and oversight on legislation related to public safety, crime prevention, criminal justice issues and corrections,” Gallivan said.
In addition to his chairmanship, Gallivan has been appointed to serve as a member of 13 additional Senate committees, including Agriculture; Finance; and the Standing Committee on Commerce, Economic Development and Small Business.
“Agriculture is our number one industry and it’s especially important to my district, which includes all of Wyoming County and portions of Erie, Livingston and Monroe counties,” Gallivan said. “As a small business owner myself, I understand the challenges facing small business and the role they play in the state’s economic development.”
Gallivan’s newest committee assignment is Finance, which plays a critical role in the state’s budget process. He looks forward to working with his fellow committee members to help ensure adoption of a budget that controls the size and cost of state government.
As a direct representative of both SUNY Geneseo and Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT), Gallivan is also proud to serve as a members of the Committee on Higher Education.
Other committees which Gallivan is a member include: Codes; Elections; Housing, Construction & Community Development; Infrastructure & Capital Investment; and Labor. He also serves as a member of the Heroin Task Force.
