George Amedore

February 16, 2016

Senator George Amedore today announced an Earth Day Poster Contest, a statewide contest sponsored by the New York State Senate. The annual contest is designed to encourage our young people to have an awareness of environmental issues. The theme is “Reduce, Reuse, Recycle,” and the contest is open to students in K-6 throughout the 46th Senate District.

“Teaching our young students about the importance of caring for the environment is so important. As we look forward to celebrating Earth Day in April, this poster contest is a way to encourage our young students to be creative and learn more about preserving our environment for future generations,” said Senator Amedore.

Students wishing to participate in this year’s event can submit their entry by April 4, 2016 via the Senator’s website, www.amedore.nysenate.gov (jpg or PDF format preferred). The winning posters from the district will be posted on the website and featured in an Earth Day display in the Legislative Office Building in Albany along with winning entries from across the state.

“Earth Day was first celebrated in 1970, and since then, over 20 million Americans have participated in efforts to improve the quality of our environment,” said Senator Amedore. “This contest is a way to promote awareness and teach our students how to care for and appreciate the natural resources that surround them.”
