Senator Bill Larkin (R-39th District) is pleased to announce that the Town of Marlborough has been awarded a $150,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM) Grant to complete renovations and refurbishments to the Milton Train Station.
“This funding will go a long way to help make the final improvements and renovations to the Milton Train Station,” said Larkin. “It is important to preserve the historic value and original craftsmanship of this site and help to turn it into a historic jewel for the region and a must-see destination for railroad enthusiasts throughout the world.”
“The Town of Marlborough will use this grant to complete the exterior work on the Historic Milton Train Station,” said Town of Marlborough Supervisor Al Lanzetta. “This will enable the Town to restore the building to its original glory and for it to be used as a Community Center and resource for our Hudson River Parks. Senator Larkin, once again has shown how he can reach across the aisle in the State Legislature to bring back important resources for his constituency.”
"The Milton Train Station Foundation thanks Senator Larkin for his generous support and dedication to the revitalization of the historic 1883 Milton Train Station," said Dan Pinnavaia, President of the Milton Train Station Foundation. "The funds from this grant are significant in bringing our restoration project of 10 years, to a close and help us preserve a piece of railroad history."
The train station was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2007 and is in the process of being converted to a community center and activities site for the Town of Marlborough.
