Larkin Secures Funds For Village Street Sweeper

Senator Bill Larkin (R,C-39^th District) is pleased to announce that he secured a $250,000 State and Municipal Facilities Program (SAM)  Grant for the Village of Harriman to purchase a refurbished street sweeper to replace the current one, which is 27 years old.  Senator Larkin noted that by purchasing a refurbished street sweeper instead of a brand new one, village government saved hundreds of thousands of dollars for local taxpayers.

“I am pleased I could help secure this funding and work with Mayor Welle to find fiscally responsible solutions for village residents,” said Senator Larkin. “This funding will help to provide village government the tools it needs to maintain and improve the quality of life for local residents.”

Village of Harriman Mayor, Stephen Welle said, “I would like to offer my sincere thanks and appreciation to Senator Larkin for his work in obtaining this grant for the Village of Harriman. This funding will enable the Village to replace the current 27 year old obsolete street sweeper and help keep our streets and boulevards clean.”

Over the past few years, the Village’s Department of Public Works has been handicapped in their ability to efficiently respond to some critical projects due to the age and condition of their street sweeper. In addition to its role in cleaning the streets, the new sweeper will be an integral part of the village’s clean water initiative by reducing waste water contaminants.
