Senator Elaine Phillips (R-Manhasset) announced that the Bryant Library in Roslyn has been awarded over $41,000 in state aid for library construction funds.  The library will use the funding to replace its walkway, parking lot, sidewalk and railings to improve safety for patrons.

“The Bryant Library is a valuable and widely used resource for the Roslyn community.  Making these new improvements will enhance safety and the overall experience for patrons who visit the Library and take advantage of the programs and services it offers,” said Senator Phillips.

"The Bryant Library is very appreciative for the support from our New York State representatives.   The funding we receive through the State Aid For Library Construction Program allows us to maintain our Library facility and provide our patrons with not only a safe but enjoyable library experience.   I want to thank Senator Philips for her constant support of libraries and for understanding the importance of the role libraries play in their respective communities," said Bryant Library Director Victor Caputo.

Project activities and expenditures eligible for funding from the State Aid for Library Construction Program include financing construction of new library buildings, construction of additions to existing buildings, and the renovation and/or rehabilitation of existing space. Projects may include roof replacement, purchase and installation of alternative energy resources, new HVAC systems, windows, doors, lighting systems, electrical upgrades, and construction of new or replacement of old walkways and parking lots. Broadband infrastructure projects are also eligible. New furniture, shelving and equipment, including computer equipment, may be purchased for new or newly reconfigured or renovated space. Renovations designed to provide accessibility for patrons with disabilities are a high priority.

The funds come from $19 million in capital funds for public library construction and broadband infrastructure projects included in the FY 2016-17 New York State Budget.
