February 24, 2017

State Senator George Amedore today invited residents throughout the 46th Senate District to submit nominations for the Senate’s 2017 Women of Distinction ceremony. The annual celebration recognizes women who have made outstanding contributions to their community.

One honoree from the 46th district will be recognized at a May 9th ceremony in Albany, along with honorees from throughout the rest of the state. The honorees will be featured in a special display in the Legislative Office Building during the event.

“Next week, we kick off Women’s History Month, so it’s a great time to think about the outstanding women who have made a difference in our communities. The 46th Senate District is home to so many extraordinary women who do so much to improve the lives of those around them, and to make our communities a better place to live,” said Senator Amedore. “This annual event is an opportunity to recognize their outstanding contributions, and extend our appreciation for all they do for us. I encourage residents to submit their nominations to recognize someone they think should be considered as a 2017 NYS Senate Woman of Distinction.”

Previous honorees at the annual event have included leading women from various industries, including business women, leaders in academics and civic arenas, those who have performed heroic acts, or those who have persevered and demonstrated personal excellence in the face of adversity.
