OLEAN – Senator Catharine Young (R, C, I - 57th District), announced that she secured $200,000 in state funding for youth development programs at the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau.
“This is an investment in the future. In my view, there is nothing more important than investing in education and opportunities for the next generation, which is why my Senate colleagues and I will always fight to support the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau and youth boards across New York State,” Senator Young said.
Senator Young has secured funding for the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau for many years. The services and programs offered by the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau include academic skills programs, career preparation classes, anti-violence initiatives, mentoring opportunities, substance abuse prevention, healthy eating and healthy living instruction, among many others.
“The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau is a fantastic resource for young people, empowering them to build bright futures,” Senator Young said. “The youth bureau gives children and young adults the education and skills they need to become leaders in our schools and communities, helping them achieve academically and personally.”
Dr. Anthony Evans, Director of the Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau and President of the Association of New York State Youth Bureaus thanked Senator Young for her support.
“The Cattaraugus County Youth Bureau feels very fortunate to be a genuine partner with Senator Young in her strong support of our positive youth development and delinquency prevention efforts on behalf of the children, youth and families of our area,” Dr. Evans said. “Through these initiatives, we are able to enter into contracts with some leading youth-serving agencies and provide a number of municipal/communal stipends and several local mini grants for groups all directly involved in our youth programs with positive outcomes.”
