YONKERS, NY -- State Senator Shelley B. Mayer (D-Westchester) officiated at the swearing-in ceremony for the Family School 32 Student Council officers in the school gymnasium in front of parents and representatives from each of the grades at the school. Senator Mayer also delivered remarks about her journey as a public servant, and she presented each of the newly elected Student Council officers with a Certificate of Achievement.
“I congratulate the newly elected officers of the Family School 32 Student Council. I thank them for having me officiate at the swearing-in ceremony and discuss my upbringing in Yonkers and eventual candidacy for public office. Student Council programs like the one at Family School 32 are an important way for students to learn about government, think about ways they can contribute to the community, and build leadership skills,” said State Senator Shelley B. Mayer. “Thank you to Dr. Miriam Digneo, Family School 32 PTA President Christina Altomare, Student Council Coordinator Jake Epprecht and the entire Family School 32 community for organizing a wonderful event to foster civic engagement.”
The new Students Council at Family School 32 is comprised of Cristopher Altomare, Student Council President; Ally Sanchez, 8th Grade Student Council Vice President; Wilfred Roldan, 7th Grade Student Council Vice President; Christina Carroll, Student Council Secretary; and Elizabeth Samuel, Student Council Treasurer.
“State Senator Shelley Mayer has shown continuous dedication to our children not merely through words, but especially through her actions,” said Family School 32 PTA President Christina Altomare. “We truly appreciate her taking the time to officiate our Family School 32 Student Council officers while continuing to better our community.”
