(Nanuet, NY) – Seniors from across Rockland County filled the Pascack Community Center in Nanuet for a chance to relive their senior prom and dance the night away.

The Second Annual Senior Prom, hosted by Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) and Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Bardonia treated about 175 seniors to the prom experience, complete with a DJ, photo booth, and even a prom king and queen.

“Seniors deserve a night where they can come together and engage with new people,” said Senator David Carlucci. “Social interaction prevents feelings of isolation, which can be common among seniors. From my annual Senior Fair to my monthly Senior Advisory meetings, it's about improving the quality of life for our active and engaged seniors.”

Prom goers were able to learn new dances from Fred Astaire Studio in Bardonia. The studio’s oldest student performer, Sette Cirillo ballroom danced with her instructor at 106-years-old.  She was a popular favorite, after being seen on Good Morning America for her dancing skills.

After dancing, seniors were treated to food and refreshments made possible through the generous contributions of Rockland County Meals on Wheels and 110 Gourmet in Bardonia.

Senator Carlucci said he is already looking into making next year’s Senior Prom even bigger and better.
