Senator Skoufis Applauds Fort Montgomery Site Association Grant
The State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation announced a $50,000 grant for the Fort Montgomery Battle Site Association to repair the site’s trail system.
“New York State’s incredible parks and preserved sites serve as spaces that foster and strengthen communities, especially here in the Hudson Valley. I’m thrilled that the state is granting the much-needed funding of $50,000 to the Fort Montgomery Battle Site Association. Fort Montgomery is an undeniably significant location and its trail system provides access to roughly 35,000 annual visitors including families, schools, and organizations aimed to educate and uplift our neighborhoods. I’ve long supported investing in these programs, and will continue to work to ensure that generations to come have easy and reliable access to New York State’s greatest sites.”
“This grant is vital for the restoration of Fort Montgomery’s trail system,” said Stella Bailey, Executive Director of the Fort Montgomery Battle Site Association. “Tens of thousands of visitors benefit from the trails each year and I’m grateful to Senator Skoufis for fighting for this funding. It will be put to good use by our community to enjoy for years to come.”
The grant is part of The Park and Trail Partnership Program; these grants are administered by the State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation along with a nonprofit group, Parks and Trails New York.
