Senator Skoufis Secures $40K for the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District
Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) announced that he secured $40,000 in vital funding for the Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District to assist with infrastructure development.
“I will always fight for our district tooth-and-nail - at home and in Albany - especially when it comes to getting funding for our schools,” said Senator Skoufis. “Investing in our schools’ infrastructure is an absolute necessity as it will prepare our classrooms for future generations of learning. I remain steadfast in my commitment to getting our school districts the funding they need and deserve.”
Frank Sheboy, Superintendent of the Highland Falls - Fort Montgomery Central School District said, “The district is appreciative that Senator Skoufis was able to secure this funding. As we moved through the budget process, challenging decisions were made regarding allocations, balancing student needs with those of taxpayers of the community. Over the past few years, these decisions have meant a reduction in infrastructure and equipment. This aid will enable the District to restore a number of items that were reduced. On behalf of the children of the District, the Board of Education and the Administration are grateful for the partnership we have forged with Senator Skoufis.”
Skoufis fought through the end of legislative session to ensure that this funding was brought back to the school district and has long championed access to quality education in New York State. Last year, he successfully secured an agreement to achieve universal, full-day kindergarten in New York State. Skoufis plans to make more funding announcements in the weeks to come.
