Tedisco: Taxpayers Need a Tax Break, Not More Tax Ache

Statement by Senator Jim Tedisco (R,C,I,REF-Glenville) on Passage of Senate & Assembly Budget Resolutions

“The Downstate-led Senate and Assembly Majorities passed state budget resolutions that, along with the Governor’s original proposal, give overburdened taxpayers more tax ache and not a real tax break.  They raise taxes on hardworking taxpayers and prescribed more governmental malpractice on the economy of New York State.  Doctors and our state government should do no harm. If one had a cure for what ailed a patient but kept giving them bad treatments until they withered away, they’d be guilty of medical malpractice! These budgets can best be described as ‘governmental malpractice’ as they propose more bad tax medicine for the number-one taxed state in the nation, which has had a record out-migration exodus.”  

"That bad medicine includes ending the popular property tax rebates, new taxes on internet purchases, prescription medicine, gasoline, grocery bags, real estate purchases, a driving tax to visit New York City, and taxpayer-funded political campaigns, which is essentially welfare for politicians and political consultants.”

“In just the past few weeks, due to the epic incompetence and utter buffoonery of the Senate Majority, New York has lost 25,000 jobs that would have been created by Amazon and generated $27 billion in revenue to reduce property taxes, help our schools and fix dilapidated infrastructure. There’s no plan in here for Upstate economic development to help the private sector and our small businesses create jobs.  They continue to treat New York with the same poison that got us here and clearly refuse to provide a pathway for success or any real prescription for a cure!”
